from the mind of critic-8/2/18

From the mind of critic: “If slippery slope arguments and points of view aren’t based on evidence, but subjective clues of what may happened, could they be geared toward the positive and not just the negative? If we make the argument the world is going to hell, because everything that has happened so far points to all these other things happening, can we also say the world is headed toward enlightenment ,because what has happened points to all this other stuff happening? Is life really about perception and experiences, or is that just what we tell ourselvess to make it seem less chaotic? 99.9% of the time slippery slope arguments are used to portray how much worse things are going to get. The same argument is used about things improving, but referred to as a ladder to success, where each step must be completed before we move onto the next. What we must remember, is that no matter how something is labeled or defined, it always has a good and bad side, whether it’s evidence based, or imagination based. Once we realize our perceptions whether positive or negative, will guide our subjectivity in a certain direction, we’ll see slippery slopes are only as slippery as our minds allow them to be. Reading clues and tea leaves is fine, but taking them as cold hard facts isn’t. Negativity is learned, positivity is born. Perceptions can giude us toward enlightenment, if we think of others besides ourselves. Getting hung up on labels, makes concepts less authentic.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we’re lost in a sea of chaos, confusion and indecision, are we really lost, or just not where we thought we’d be? Are the challenges we face, and the questions we conjure part of the journey we planned for, because as we gained more life experience, our journey inherently changed? If we’re not where we thought we’d be, is it because of inaction and bad choices, or outside factors beyond our control? Finding our way in this 21st century chaotic climate, is like walking on thin ice. We know it’s scary
and it might break through at anytime, but we walk on it anyway because our soul persuades us forward. We put out to the universe what we need and want, put in the work required, then rinse and repeat. This will help us with our goals, even though the form we recieve them could be completely different than imagined. We mustn’t see this as a failure, only a test. Can we adapt to be successful? Can we walk across shifting sands, by being willing to outstand the darkness? Once we decipher the difference between going whichever way the wind blows, and being willing to go where the wind takes us, our blueprint for success appears. Being lost and being found, depends on what we allow. Light is only possible when we admit there’s more than darkness. A willingness to adapt isn’t simply survival, it’s evolutionary. Our journeys might change, but the reason why we journey never does.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “In any business, if the front of the house gives the customer their first impression, but the back of the house takes care of the nuts and bolts so that first impression is credible, who is a more valuable member of the team? Does the front bring in the customers, because that’s what the public sees, regardless of what’s happening in the back? Does the back bring in customers, because they take care of what the public doesn’t see, regardless of what’s happening in the front? Is it not the indvidual, but a well coordinated and cohesive team who brings in the customers, because if everybody isn’t supporting everybody else, customers won’t return, regardless of how spectacular any individual acts? There’s no I in team isn’t a metaphor, it’s black and white truth. While individualism is so extremely important that we put it in the first ammendment to our consitution, one person can’t carry the team, no matter how much their ego convinces them they can. Everybody has a part to play, a purpose to fulfill, and a unique strength that makes the world a better place. Some of us haven’t found our thing yet and that’s fine, each of us in our own time. We must never think we can’t find it, whether the advice comes from within us, or somebody we randomly meet projecting their deficiencies. Whether a community, a business or a country, strength is in unity, not division. A teams’ strength, is only equal to it’s members confidence in each other. Our true purpose spells out how we build each other up, not tear each other down. The illusion of ego is destroyed, when the importance of unity is illuminated.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If facism and nationalist socialism are different because they’re opposite ends of the spectrum, but are the same because they’re always in conflict with normal people, are democratic republics and parlimentary systems the same because one allows multiple parties while the other only 2, but are the same because they’re thought to be normal, always in conflict with extremes? Do all the normal people in the middle fear extremists uniting for the purposes of destruction, just like extremists on the fringe fear normal people uniting for purposes of creation? Is creation vs. destruction the real us vs. them, oris the whole question arbitrarily subjective, because we as humans have aspects of everything within us? We live in a crazy worls where leacdwers are making backward decisions, cupled with corruption not seen in a generation. I’m not simply talking of Donald J., leaders in general have been trending more authoritarian lately, by appealing to emaotion and inbedded prejudice, instead of untiy and humanity. We as humans have a choice, we can be on the side of the extremists, or in the middle where most of us live. We have a choice create or destroy, we must simply ask, what will further human evolution, and what will devolve it. If we care abpout ourselves, do we care about others? Extremism is colorblind and classless, but so is truth and humanism. Enemies uniting is only bad, when the goal is destruction. If we’re worth bettering ourselves, so is the world.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If feeling our feelings is how we recognize them so we can let them go, when is the cut off point? When do we realize we’ve felt the full breadth of a feeling, so we can let it go before obsession sets in? Is there a black and white flashing sign that says “we have felt this feeling long enough”, or is it an inner sign, one that we’ll only catch if we’re in touch with our soul, because it’s the only true encyclopedia of personal feelings we have? Getting to know ourselves as we journey forward is a struggle whether we’re rich, poor, old, young, republican, democrat, religious, atheist, or any definition yet to be defined. It’s what makes us the same, it’s what makes us human. We run into trouble when we try to ignore who we are, negate who we are, or try to be something we’re not. Not only will we have to work backwards just to get back to zero, but we’ll have to fend off self-sabotage with every thought we have. Once we realize that getting to know ourselves, what we think, want, know, believe and feel is evolutionary if done truthfully, we’ll see that just because we’re not as far along in life as we’d like to be, or with the love that we dream of, doesn’t mean we never will be, unless we feel undeserving. Which if we truly allowed our feelings to shine through, we’d know that’s not true. Feeling bad can be a growing experience, if we comprehend its temporary nature. Lonliness might be hard, but misery is harder. Finding our soul connection is inevitable, is self love is integral. Letting go doesn’t mean we’re missing out, it means we’re making room for something better.” 🙂

From themind of critic: “Are birthdays more exciting when we’re younger, because of the fun party, and because we’ll be one year older? Are birthdays more exciting when we’re older, because of the fun party, and not having many borthdays left spo we have to make the most of them? Are birthdays only less exciting at any age, because we don’t see any reason to celbrate us of nobody else does, or do we honestly, truthfull and faithfully don’t care about birthdays? The only people that last statement holds truefor is Jehova’s witnesses, because they don’t celebrate holidays, birthdays included. They still care about birthdays from a human level, even if years of dogma have indoctrinated them otherwise. If we tell others we don’t care, do we tell ourselves we don’t care? If we tell ourselves we don’t care, wemust ask ourselves why. Once we realize that nobody is gonna celebrate us unless we do, we’ll see our birthday might only be one day amonsgt 364 others every year, but it’s our day to realize we’re special, we matter, and even if our neighjbor’s grass is greener than ours, ours can be even greener too, but not if we don’t believe in ourselves. We aren’t the center of the universe, we are the center of our universe. We get less depressed about our birthday, the less regrets we have. Kowing why we feel a certain way, helps us gain control of our emotions. Themore celebrate ourselves, the more we’ll see we’reworth the effort.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “To be or not to be might be the question, but is it the right one? Is it broad enough to cover all variables and outcomes, allowing us questions of whether to be ourselves or someboyd else? Is it too vague to really mean anything, but we listen because it’s flowery language by a world famous playwright spoken over 450 years ago? Could the message be conveyed in a simpler way, so the masses could not only understand what it means, but how it plays out in real world senarios? Finding out how things happen and why, not only seperates us from the animals, but opens the door for inner joy. That joy comes from authenticity, which can only come from being. The only time when we shouldn’t be something, is when it’s detrimental to ourselves or others. The only time we should be ourselves, is when it’s uplifting to ourselves. Once we realize to be or not to be isn’t the question, but, is this uplifitng or deflating is the question, we’ll see that asking what we should be in certain situations is normal, trying to be somthing we’re not in a futile attempt to please everyone isn’t. We recieve truthful answers, when we know why we’re asking questions. To further collective uplift, our language must be as black and white as possible. Life is guaranteed to throw a curveball no matter how much we prepare, but our odds of success increase the more we know ourselves. Historical figures can be guides, but so can our soul.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If authority figures who are thought to be inherently inhuman, take conscious steps to be seen as human, does that ease tenions? Is all the discrimination, profiling, and grandiose narcissism forgotten, because of non-serious and non-authoritative actions? Do the authorities themselves become more human because they want good pr, or do they become more human by protecting and serving all people fairly and equally, with good pr being the coincidental end result? Whether it’s pancake breakfasts, charity drives, playing pickup basketball, lip synching, or simply walking a beat so as to know neighborhood residents, humanistic acts by police are always a good thing. Yes, some of them may fake authenticity, but what’s the alternative, police becoming more and more standoffish, brash and rude, while the population’s hate for them skyrockets. Once we realize that not all police pr campaigns are born of authenticity, but most are, we’ll see the more humanistic actions that are taken by police, the more they’ll feel human, which in turn will make the public see them as more human. Animosity vanishes, when reflective humanism appears. We can hate cops, but until we work on the reasons why, nothing will change. Until protect and serve is spread evenly amongst the human family, none of us are safe. We save humanity, by remembering it’s definition.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If looking in the mirror is the answer to most of our problems whether personal or societal, what happens when looking in the mirror becomes the problem? Do we believe simply being introspective is the solution, that seeing and understanding is the action? Are we so vain we believe we have all the answers, and staring into our own eyes reminds us everyone else is wrong? Is our self esteem so low we expect the worst so as to not be disappointed, which makes our act of looking in the mirror us faking it till we make it? Is the problem not so much us looking in the mirror, but stopping our journey and not letting it flow? Remembering life is a journey and not a destination, reminds us of the endless steps, trails, paths, trials, tribulations, pitfalls, guides, sages and gurus we come across during our short time on this earth. Looking in the mirror is simply us taking responsibilities for our actions, and seeing what role we played in our personal and societal issues. Where we go wrong is thinking everything is our fault or nothing is, when it’s a balance between the two that’s closer to the truth. Once we realize self-accountability doesnt mean self-sabotage, we’ll see being honest with ourselves, means seeing the bad as well as the good. Looking in the mirror is only scary, if we can’t handle the truth. Being accountable is how we move forward, not the actual act of moving forward. We’ll never get past the first step, until we realize there’s more. Being kind to ourselves, means being okay with expecting the unexpected.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “if we agree private businesses are a good thing, and making money off our own ideas is one of the things that makes us American, could we also agree some things should never be for profit? Does profiting off hospital patients allow them better care? Does profiting off students allow them a better education? Does profiting off prisoners allow them better rehabilitation? If our answer is yes to any of these, we must ask what our true motives are. Hospitals are supposed to heal the sick, but what’s to say they wont simply fix who makes them the most money, and negate the ones who don’t? Schools are suppossed to help teach kids, what’s to say they’ll only teach what the schoolowner wants them to? Prisons are supposed to rehabilitate people, but what’s to say they’ll only punish who the prison owner wants out of the way? Once we realize being educated, being healthy and being rehabilitated when we run afoul of the law, makes us more productive members of society who are less likely to need assistance, we’ll see capitalism completely will devour itself if it sees everything as profit, instead of viewing some as off limits. Making money is a good thing, making it by breaking the back of our fellow human being isn’t. If our government doesn’t want smart, healthy and productive residents, we must vigilantly ask why. If capitalism had iron clad rules, would it still be capitalism? Would racism disappear if capitalism disapeared, or would it simply mutate?” 🙂
