From the mind of critic: “If presidential debates are suppossed to help us determine who should be president, how are we suppossed to learn anything if they basically repeat the same thing they’ve been saying for months? Will their overused terms, statements and focused grouped phrases sound new to us, if we haven’t been paying attention before the debates? Is that the only way a rationally thinking person could think these actually are debates? Now, I realize that some people don’t watch sports until the playoffs, because they believe the games get better near the end of the season. Maybe some of us believe the debates are when things are getting really good, because we aren’t watching it to gather information, but as pure entertainment, because it’s the ultimate reality show, and people are always doing crazy, and unexpected things. Which explains exactly what’s wrong with our system. When the extremes of one side are so scared of the extremes from the other, that each sides best bet is to run Biff Tannon against a pre-corronated queen, the only next logical step is for the extremes to team up because they’re extreme, against everybody else who isn’t. Which is when stuff is really gonna go down. Debates will only be real debates, when candidates are fact-checked by the moderator as they speak; unless we want our system to devolve into a Jersey Shore marathon. And nobody wants that” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we believe ourselves to be informed consumers, who shop around so we can get the best value of what we’re trying to procure, do we use the same method when trying to find an avenue to make positive change? Do we hunt and search for ways to make a big statement, spend all this time and effort setting it up, and then just go home afterwards? Or do we search for ways to help all of humanity long term, so 7 generations down the line they’ll look back at us, and say I’m glad they did something that actaully fixed the problem, and didn’t just make a statement? There are many things we could be doing on a daily basis to make our lives better. If we spend six months looking for a car and checking out all the specs, maybe we could use the same tenacity when searching for methods for making positive, and long lasting change. If we use coupons, wait for half price sales or buy one get free, we make the most out of what we have, so it has the longest lasting effect. Once we realize we have the talent and the ability in our toolkit, we’ll see we can make all our collective dreams come true because we are not only informed consumers, but informed humans as well. We must choose the right method, and then just go for it. We can find the right solutions, we just have to take some time to flush them out” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If there are an infinite number of perspectives on an infinite number of subjects, how do we know which one is the right one? Is there a way to correlate, quantify and explain an algorithm in such a way, that the best perspective is detailed so plainly, that all humans understand in black and white what is the best way to think? Or is it all chaos anyway, and the more we believe that one perspective is better than others because it perfectly explains the problem, the more chaotic we make it? We all know the old adage, the more we think we know, the more we don’t know. The more we think we have it all figured out, the more it proves we have a lot further to go. None of our perspectives are better than anybody elses. However, the more we voice our perspective, the more others will display theirs. The more of us that get used to displaying our opinions, while also hearing other’s opinions, the more we’ll see that the breadth of the worlds chaos can be made a little more definable, once we realize that there will always be thoughts that come up unexpectedly, to solve the deepness of an issue we weren’t even aware of, until we attempted to perceive the chaos. Perspectives are like assholes or like dreams, we all have them, but how we choose to use them, might not ever fully define the chaos, but will govern the future of our planet” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “When did union becaome a bad word in this country, was it the same time that liberal became a bad word? Was it because we got so hung up on the little things, that we forgot about the bigger picture? Or because we were so focused on the bigger picture and what was coming down the road, that we forgot it’s the little things that make life worth living, and that it’s those little things that make the bigger picture what it is, and what it appears to be? We enjoy the fruits of ours and others labor, good and bad. This point in our history didn’t fall out of the sky, it has been building up for a very long time. Maybe all those things that used to make union and liberal a good word, have been chipped away at for years, and turned them bad. Maybe people realize that they can’t make the radical and drastic change they want all at once, so they put in all the hard work, and do all the menial tasks that are so mundane, that their opponent doesn’t see their entire world changing around them. Without unions and liberals we wouldn’t have half the things we do, just like without language we wouldn’t be able to state what we really feel. Without choice, we would be completely helpless. And isn’t choice what we’re giving up when we enjoy something that we know has bettered out lives, yet we still portray as evil and destructive at the same time?” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If this land is your land, but it’s also my land, why don’t we just say it’s our land? Are we afraid we’ll cede our supremacy for their inferiority, or afraid they’ll cede their inferiority for our supremacy? Or are we simply afraid of the idea of our land, because the thought never crossed our minds that property wouldn’t exist, but rights would? The argument could be made that Woody Guthrie and Jon Lennon were expressing the same thing, that the ground of this earth, belongs to all of us. That there is nowhere on this earth where nobody belongs, specifically because we’re human, and we’re on this earth. It’s made for all of us, not a few of us, or the rich and powerful, or a group that speaks, acts and worships the same, while displaying the same amount of melanin. Where we go wrong is when we believe in our land so harshly, that we kill anybody who is a dissident, or cordone them off in a small area if we can’t kick them out. Many, many wars have been fought, many are being fought now, and unfortunately more will probably be fought in the future. While nobody wants to live in a war zone, we will all be living in war zones if we keep hardening our stances of my and yours, and us and them. Peace is only acheived through unification, not seperation” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “When did we become a country that applauds and touts people simply for not being racists, bigots or homophobes? When did we start praising those who treat others with respect, when it’s something they should have been doing all along anyway? When did we come to the realization that the world is so messed up, that we get elated at the slightest bit of light, truth and consciousness? We have alot of issues in our society, there is no denying that. But if we’ve gotten so comfortable with the evil and the darkness when it makes every attempt to take away our descency toward each other, and we do nothing because we believe it is what it is, is it any wonder we get all excited when one of us does something human, when it’s what all of us should be doing on a daily basis ? Maybe we can get past the stage of celebrating mediocrity, by not putting somebody on a pedestal for doing something they should normally be doing. Maybe we can start treating each other not like stepping stones or commodities, but like part of the same human family. The more we celebrate somebody for not being a jerk or for finnaly admitting they were a jerk, the less we will progress forward. And we wanna progress forward, right?” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we expect technology to fix all of our environmental problems, are we choosing to keep polluting, and doing what led to the problems? If we expect technology to fix all of our health issues, are we choosing to eat all the junk food, and living the unhealthy lifestyle that led to the problems? If we expect technology to do eveyrthing for us, Are we trying to be as lazy as possible? In the last 50 years there have been many technological advances. They have extended our life span, and made our day to day life easier by freeing up our time for more fulfilling ventures. Where we go wrong is when we think we don’t have to advance our thinking, our self, our society and our world along with the technology that outpaces itself every 2 years. Not that ever increasingly advanced technology isn’t wanted, because it is. But if we ate better foods, didn’t spill deadly toxins into the soil or release them into the air, and didn’t tear each other down but instead built eachother up, we wouldn’t be in such urgent need of this technology. As technology grows, our consiousness must grow along with it. or we will be left holding the proverbial bag when technology implodes, and we have to recontruct our humanity. We must choose to make a better future now, not rely on technology to do it sometime down the road” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we love letting our freak flag fly because we think it’s the ultimate form of true expression, how come we roll our eyes and shake our heads when others hoist their freak flag? Do we believe the term freak is completely subjective, causing some people’s inner freak to look way, way different than ours, which in turn makes us think they’re detrimental to the evolution of our collective humanity? Or do we realize that when everybody flys their freak flag, it reveals the truest form of themselves, and when people are completely honest about who they are, the real conversation can begin? We all have fascets of ourselves we keep secret, and fascets we make public by voicing them. Maybe the less we’re scared to reveal our true nature, the more understanding, tolerant and accepting we’ll be when others reveal their true nature. Maybe revealing that true nature and the honest thoughts that spring forth, is the key for all of us to unite around what we already know we agree on, simply because the untrue bullshit that fogs over reasonable discourse will no longer be a factor. Letting the world know who we truly are doesn’t guarantee we’ll solve our ingrained and generational issues, but gives us the chance opening in the great wall we’ve been looking for. May we all let our freak flags fly, it may save the planet” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “Is life is like a hurdle race, where we’re sprinting to get to the end, while also jumping over obstacles? Is life like a marathion, where we’re still racing to get to the end, but pace ourselves along the way, so we don’t burn out early? Or is life like a decathalon, with many different events testing many different skills? One thing I’ve learned, is that nothing in life is black and white. The moment we think it is, something comes along to prove us wrong. Kinda like when we were teenagers and thought we knew everything. Nothing in life is guaranteed except change. The ever constantly and evolving grey area where most of us live, keeps us on our toes with obstacles, set in place by outside forces by ourselves. There are times when we undertsand where the finish line is, but we pace ourselves so we have a chance of reaching it. There are other times where we are pulled in 10 different directions, and wonder which way to go, because we can’t possibly go in every direction at the same time. What we must remember is, life is like an olympic games with ever changing and evolving events, that are added or taken away on a whim. As long as we prepare by being open and letting our light shine, we might not be 100% guaranteed a victory, success,or even any idea of what’s coming. But we can have guaranteed satisfaction, because we’re conscious of what’s authentically in front of us” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we don’t know where we’re going, but we sure know where we’ve been, do we atleast have a clue where we’re going? If we not only know where we’ve been, but also understand it’s historical implications, does it provide a road map? Is that road map an easily discernable and fully illuminated path forward? Or does the path within the road map only illuminate itself if we make the choice to see it, by using the historical implications of our past, to our advantage in the present day? We have all heard the old quote, that if we don’t learn the lessons of history, we’re doomed to repeat them. Once we come to a point in our lives where we actually wanna learn those lessons, we start theorizing what that would look like in our everyday lives. The theories we develop because we consciously and courageously wanna make the world a better place for all of us, is the exact road map we follow. We might not ever know 100% where we’re going, but we have a much better chance at figuring it out, if we consciously better our collective world by using the lessons of the past, to choose a better future” 🙂
