From the mind of critic: “If we expect the worst and hope for the best, do we ever expect the best and hope for the worst? Do we want to succeed, but utilize self-sabotage to extend the life of a cocoon of inaction? Are we afraid of succeeding not because we desire failure, but are petrified of change? Do routines help us evolve by providing a springboard, or do they drastically reduce our expectations until “making the best of things”, is the only positivity we allow ourselves? Setting goals and aspirations spins up our imagination, turning what’s possible into what’s probable. Expecting the worst or the best sets pre-conditions on what we think is acheivable, and we adjust our actions accordingly. We must ask ourselves do we actually want to succeed, or just make ourselves believe a lie? Change can be scary whether positive or negative, but the lessons learned are invaluable to our souls. The higher our expectations, the higher the wall blocking our progress. Letting go of outcomes is like venturing into the darkness, it’s only scary if we don’t allow our soul to light the way. Hope and love get us started, conscious action moves us forward.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If the ignorance we spout is birthed from a lack of knowledge, does gaining knowledge guarantee the erasure of ignorance? If we learn about something and all it’s gray area, but still label it as black and white, are we ignorant? If knowledge is power, is ignorance a lack of power? Does this lack of power cause us to steal others’ power, balancing ourselves by making others “less than”? Do we gain true power not by subtracting it from others, but by learning how to create it for ourselves? Ignorance can be a fickle beast, we might not care that we don’t know something. We can also care so much that we don’t know something, it turns to anger. On the same token, we can also care so much, that we go out and learn, which turns into joy. Life continually renews itself, with every lesson we learn. We instantly spring forward, when we realize ignorance is what’s holding us back. The gray area we all live in is constantly evolving, if we adapt instead of resist, we’ll evolve right alongside. Resistance is only futile, when we’re ignorant of the true cause we’re rebelling against.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we display our higher selves when confronted by darkness, do we display our lower selves when confronted by light? Do we act as the kind, loving and altruistic species we were meant to be, only as a last resort? Does this deeply ingrained dichotomy, cause cynicism and mistrust to devalue positive thoughts and actions? Can saving our sould be more effective and sustaining, when we use it guide our actions, not just our reactions? Rekindling our humanity and stoking the love within our soul happens after natural disasters, terrorist attacks, mass shootings, ethnic cleansing and genocide. After the violence has subsided, love is the only concept that faithfully and dutifully repairs the damage done. However, if we start our emotions, thoughts, perceptions, observations, decisions and actions with love, we’ll find ourselves breaking out of the cycle of all or nothing, black and white living; which might prevent the violence in the first place. Comprehending life’s gray area, allows the kindness that love springs from. Love as a first resort isn’t a revolutionary idea, it’s survival. Doing the right thing late, is better than not at all. Doing the right thing early, prevents the can from being kicked down the road.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we drive around looking for a better view of the world below us, do we believe the world is below us? Does an all encompassing view from above, give us a chance to step outside of ourselves, so we get an objective view of reality on the ground? Do our perceptions change if we’re on the outside looking in, and vice versa? Do we actually know what’s below us, or only what’s not worth our time? Stepping out of our daily routine, can allow us to see how everything is innerconnected. Thoughts lead to actions, like perceptions lead to realities. Always avoiding problems causes them to fester. Dealing with issues by learning lessons, brings solutions. Nothing is below us besides the ground, unless we aren’t willing to get our hands dirty. Looking down only works if we also look up, like looking back only works if we also look forward. Viewing the world without preconception, will lead us to enlightenment.”:)

From the mind of critic: “If a rearview mirror tells us objects are clsoer than they appear, do dreams act the same? Does looking behind us too much, make us forget what’s in front of us? Does obsessing about old memories, block us from making new ones? Dreams make things closer than they appear, because they remind us what we can accomplish when we put in the work. As we journey through life we get glimpses, moments of how beautiful life can be. Sometimes these glimpses appear closer than they actually are, because we aren’t allowing ourselves to experience them. If we think good things only exist for others, it’s because we percieve ourselves as not worthy. Once we realize these moments, these little things really do make life worth living, we’ll see our hopes, dreams and goals are as close as they appear, if we’re ready for them. The realities we percieve, are equal to the actions we take. We create new memories not by obsessing about old ones, but by learning from them. Rearview mirrors and windsheilds working in tandem help us evolve, not either or.”

From the mind of critic: “If we’re blinded by the light, how do we move forward without losing our vision? Do we get revved up like duece, powering through like a runner in the night? Do we move like a snail, where slow and steady wins the race? Do we think critically about the actions we take, so we venture more strategically? Are we really blinded by the light, or are we blinded by ourselves? The ever widening chaos between human factions, can cause suppossed shortages in emotion, humanity, resources, critical thinking and success. That’s not to say some resources aren’t finite, dwindling ice caps, mild winters and drought prove we don’t live in overabundance. Once we realize being blinded by the light causes us to forsake all others, because we think our needs are all that matters, we’ll see recognizing humanity and feeling gratitude fills us with positivity throughout our journey, so we don’t have to race toward the light, stuck in a me versus you mentality. Gulping water when we’re dying of thirst, is like inhaling beauty into an empty soul, it’ll make us sick unless we pace ourselves. Our vision of a better world, is fueled by gratitude and critical thought. We stop getting blinded by the light, when we stop spotlighting our destination, and allow our path to be illuminated.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we swallow our pride, are we swallowing our self-esteem? Does compromising on some of our principles, mean we don’t care about them? Does the natural give and take of negotiation feel like we’re ceding control, to take the crumbs we’re thrown? Does pride equal self-esteem, or does self-knowledge? The Rolling Stones said years ago, “We can’t always get what we want, but if we try sometimes we’ll get what we need.” Once we realize putting out to the universe what we want, and letting go of outcomes is how we get what we need, we’ll see swallowing our pride only means losing ourselves, if we don’t know what we stand for. Our self-esteem only drops, if validation is our only motivation. Compromise isn’t a dirty word, it’s nothing but an alias for evolution. The more we know ourselves, the less we lose ourselves.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “Is the day after a religious holiday, different from a Hallmark invented recognition? Are created memories inherently vital when linked to historical text, or when linked to a greeting card company? Have religious holidays been so commercialized, they make vastly more money than hoidays created solely for making money? Do we judge a holidays’ importance by what we get, or who we spend it with? Does a holiday lose importance if we have no memories tied to it, just like bad memories? I’ll be the first to admit Valentines has no significance for me, because I haven’t had a reason to celebrate since I was 20. It doesn’t mean I won’t celebrate it in the future, I could meet the woman of my dreams at anytime. We must recognize that we all celebrate for different reasons, and the same reasons at the same time. Whether a holiday is relgious or not, we shouldn’t let anything tell us to celebrate but our soul; not religious text, not ingrained generational beliefs and definetly not greeting card companies. Celebrating ourselves, allows us to celebrate others. Holidays make celebrating a chore, only if we forget why we celebrate. Being different and the same can make humans hard to define, but the more we’re consicous of our actions, the easier definitions become.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If nice guys finish last and assholes finish first, will we ever evolve further? If assholes are finally getting there judgment day, is it just the famous ones? If nice guys are finally getting their due, is it only the good looking ones? Does low self esteem color our thinking, making us believe we wont succeed because we aren’t worthy? Do we live by “it is what it is”, expecting current labels and dichotomies to be forever constant? Do we live by example, because if we don’t portray the example we want to see, definitions won’t matter? Do we know there are exceptions to every rule, and through these exceptions we create new rules?Labels and stereotypes steer our perceptions, no matter our life experience. However, we only get steered if we let go of the wheel. Nice guys might finish last, because they haven’t met somebody ready for a nice guy. Assholes might finish first, because they only look for somebody who isn’t ready for a nice guy. Truth is, nothing is as it seems. Nice guys can finish first, if they enter the right race. Questions stop behaviors from becoming cliches. Being the change we want to see, involves changing the way we see.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we’re not suppossed to look a gift horse in the mouth, are we suppossed to look a gift horse in the butt? Is there a difference between always expecting the worst to happen, and thinking everyone is a horse’s ass? Does being grateful for what we have, ensure we don’t make perfect the enemy of the good? Many people are a horse’s ass, but if we think all humans are equine turd factories, we should take a look in the mirror. Always expecting the worst or best, sets false expectations because we aren’t psychic. We shouldn’t expect anything, take each moment for what it is, take the good, leave the bad, and learn the lesson it has to teach. Expecting perfection causes us to look a gift horse in the mouth, expecting the unexpected causes us to be thankful for whatever comes. If we’re not grateful for whaat we have, how can we recieve what we want? Life is only chaotic, if we think we have it all figured out.” 🙂
