from the mind of critic-3/24/18

From the mind of critic: “If there’s a thin line between love and hate, and between genius and insanity, is the line imaginary? Do we convince ourselvs they’re different concepts, when really they’re two sides of the same concept? Do strong emotions and strong intellect always set us apart from the general population? Do we blend in more if we act on the positive side, or the negative? Does experiencing balance allow us to find that sweet spot in the middle, where most of us reside? Every concept, thought, emotion, action and belief has positive and negative aspects, part of the balance that allows us to understand definitions. Being more on the positive side than the negative is always better. However, if we believe we’ll always be on the positive side, and act toward making it real by imagining something that’s not there, or gripping something so tight in a desperate attempt to hold on forever, we change the definition, and slide from one end to the other. Recognition and letting go, keeps joyful moments flowing through. The more we aim toward the positive without without an iron grip, the more we’ll be a loving genius, instead of an insane hate monger. When we admit we’re on different parts of the same side, we push forward our collective evolution. Purposeful action happens when we prove to ourselves, we’re all in this together.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “When it rains, does it always pour? Does it ever sprinkle, raining just hard enough to let us know it’s still there? Does it ever snow, where the rain is colder but lighter, even if it comes down in blankets? Doesi t ever hail, where the rain freezes before it falls, in every size from a pinhead to a baseball? Is the temperature and ferocity of the rain subjective, depending on our background and life experience? CCR did a few songs about the rain, that weren’t really about rain. They used physical attributes of rain as a metaphor for societal chaos, negativity and violence. In that vein, have we ever asked ourselves, if we’ve ever seen the rain coming down on sunny days? If we’ve ever seen the rain, have we ever asked who will stop the rain, or do we just expect that a hard is gonna fall? When things go wrong, sometimes we get stuck in a trap of thinking things will always be bad, which causes things to get worse. Once we realize our perceptions dictate how good or bad something is, and if we look inside or outside for the answer, we’ll see our actions are controllable no matter how viciously we get pummeled. When it rains it pours is only true, if we always expect the worst. Realizing we’re the answer we’ve been looking for, prevents unrealisitic expectations that something will fall in our lap. The more we’re conscious of self talk, the more we’ll see others aren’t. Rembering rain is temporary, keeps our mind critically thinking.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we answer when nature calls, is it to dispose of waste products? Does nature call us, because we can’t function without ridding ourselves of what we don’t need? Does nature want our physical waste products when it calls, or our emotional waste? Does nature not want our waste at all, but our help in preservation? Going #1 or #2, is usually our action when nature picks up the phone. This relieves us of physical waste our bodies don’t need. When we equate this with the only reason nature would call, we fail to see the emotional and spiritual waste we should also be discarding. Nature can also call us to action, where we’re required to take care of the earth we all walk on. Basically, nature can call us for all sorts of reasons, which are completely subjective, and evolve with each person’s journey. Once we realize that nature calling is only a metaphor for improving our mind, body and soul, which is what nature really wants so we can keep living as a planet, we’ll see nature calling is only a label, which can help some, and inhibit others. Nature calls us to action, we have to figure out for ourselves what that means. Getting hung up on a concepts name, prevents us from doing the actions required. Getting rid of what doesn’t serve us is what counts, not what we label the action. Preserving or relieving ourselves, specifically means preserving and relieving the earth.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If Thomas Edison had the patent to the electric car over 100 years ago, why aren’t there more on the roads? Did the oil companies get too powerful, and squashed their competition? Did the big car companies partner with the oil companies, and squash their competition? Did the electric companies partner with big oil and big car, to not build a powerful enough grid, necessary for a nation of electric cars, thereby squashing their competition? Does money and pwoer always win against the the will of the people, or do the people simply need to coalesce their power to overcome? When there’s a buck to be made, someone will come along to snatch up the power and influence that goes along with. When a new technology comes along that threatens the flowing money stream, even if the new technology would benefit the people and the world, something will come along to put it down. The fact that we should have a power grid fueled by alternative energy to sustain millions of electric cars, and pure gas cars should be getting a 100 mpg by now, is besides the point. Greed will always beat timidity, until the lion is awoken. Caring for people and making a profit can both happen, when our ideas are mutually beneficial. Saving the environment, is saving humanity. Money and power only beat us, if we buy into their illusion. If we don’t want to get beaten down by unwarranted advice and condescension, we must stand up and never sit.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we use outcomes to validate our hardwork, is success the only reason we put in effort? Is winning the only reason we try? Do we believe our journey only has purpose, if it ends up the way we want? Do we believe the trials and tribulations encompassing our journey, provide life experience, and therefore purpose? Is success static from the time we envision it, or does it change the more we learn and experience? We all want to feel validated, that our efforts will bear fruit. Sometimes we want something so bad, its all we see, and neglect the hardwork required. The cliche of, “life is a journey, not a destination”, means nothing is guaranted no matter who we know, or how hard we work. Once we realize that giving up on outcomes doesn’t mean giving up, it means putting energy toward our passions so we allow outcomes to happen, we’ll see the more joy we inhale, and the more we breathe out, the more purposeful our journey will be. Hardwork doesn’t guarantee success, working our passions guarantees purpose. Validation doesn’t come from the outside, it comes from within. We gain life experience, by experiencing life. Success can evolve and change form, just like us when we authentically journey. Destinations might change, but our need for a purposeful journey doesn’t.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If blue skies smile upon us, do dark skies frown upon us? Does the positivity we feel from blue sky and the negativity we feel from dark sky, a direct result of environmental condtions? Does physical representations reveal an image, but our perceptions, experiences and emotional condtions determine whether we view that image as good or bad? Do our inner thoughts become our outer thoughts, through validation of what we observe? Most of us agree a sunny and blue day makes us happy, and a dark and stormy day makes us sad. Assuming these feelings are infinitely constant, ignores the multitude of levels, layers and reactions life reveals on a daily basis. We could be sad when it’s sunny because of trauma, happy when it’s stormy because we need the rain, or anything and everything inbetween. What we think, determines what we see. Biases block us from authenticity, by cementing black and white thinking. Blue skies and dark skies are a glimpse, physical and emotional reactions help us define those glimpses. Beautiful and uplifting moments flow, when we’re open to possibilities.”

From the mind of critic: “If we slip up and think it’s the end of the world, does somebody else think it’s just fine or even great? If one person’s trash is another person’s treasure, is what we percieve as true, false by another’s perception? Do we make choices based off events on the ground, or preconcieved notions? When we’re in the moment, it can seem we’re the only people in the world. That what we do and what we think is static across the board, making us believe happiness, pain, anger, violence, fun, satisfaction, acceptance and love carries the same definition for everyone. Feelings, just like weather can happen for all different reasons. Once we realize our perceptions of events can vary widely depending on attitude, life experience and emotional stability, we’ll see everything that happens as moments, that have lessons to teach, which we can choose to learn or not learn. Screwing up can be the end of the world, or the beginning of new understanding. What we need less of in our lives, somebody else needs more. Perceptions are like paths to enlightenment, the more we understand each other, the better off we’ll all be. True knowledge proves we don’t know everything, and neither does anybody else.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If worn in shoes and jeans are more comfortable than brand new, are they imbued with our musk? Are they not as stiff as new clothes, or do we just know what to expect? Does comfortability happen not due to feel, but familiarity? Does breaking in new items bring fear of the unknown, or joy for opportunities? It’s always nice to slip on new shoes, pants, shirts or sit on a couch that’s well worn. The curvature, the softness of the material and peace of mind all dictate our feelings, when wearing or sitting on something we know. Are new things really uncomfortable to use, or are we just uncomfortable using them? Having things we’re used to isn’t a bad thing, unless they lead to fear of what’s new, which can quickly devolve to hate. Once we realize that old isn’t always comfortable, and new isn’t always improved, we’ll see new items, possesions, events, atitudes and beliefs are only scary if we think all answers belong to us. Being comfortable with ourself is good, a willingness to adapt is better. The unknown isn’t scary, it’s new. Balancing what we know with what we learn, will make the darkness lighter. Adapting and evolving is imprinted on our species, denying this is taking one step forward, and two steps back.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If two wrongs don’t make a right, do two rights make a wrong? Does doing right so often make us forget what wrong is, and vice versa? Do definitions remain static throughout our lives, or do they change depending on under or over use? Are success and failure like yin and yang, where we can’t know one without knowing the other? Doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results, is the defintion of insanity. Being determined and passionate that something is the right thing to do, even after repeated failure, is what makes life worth living. We must take risks, we must gamble, we must play it safe and we must not wager on the unknown, but we’ll only know which is which, if we honestly live the experience. Thinking something is all one way or all another, will cause us to act all one way or all another without deviation. Critical thinking, means sometimes being critical of ourselves. Balancing critical self-reflection with unrelenting self-love, gives us a clear definition of right and wrong. Two wrongs don’t make a right, they give us the illusion of being correct. Honesty is the best policy, if we actually want to walk the walk.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we wish it was sunny when it’s raining, and raining when it’s sunny, are we ever satisfied? Do drought condtions blip on our radar, when it’s pouring? Do outside activities blip on our radar, when it’s balmy? Do we feel like a doormat, if we’re not complaining that things could be better? Does the energy and self-worth required to find balance between how things are and how things should be, seem like to much effort? Does looking for the bright side, make us ignore reality, or further our definition? The weather is always a safe topic to start a conversation with, everybody has an opinion. We go wrong when we let those opinions color our perceptions as overly positive or overly negative. Once we realize that positivity and negativity aren’t at loggerheads but symbiotic, we’ll see the more truthful our langauage, the more balanced our actions become when deciphering root causes. We all want life to be better, the more truthful steps we uncover, the closer we’ll be. When our actions match our thoughts, success matches our integrity. To much rain or sun is bad, just like to much positivity or negativity. Balancing what we truly think with what we say is hard, but the authenticity excuded is the foundation for a fulfilling life.” 🙂
