From the mind of critic: “If a running backs’ main objective is to reach the endzone, do they flinch when 1200 pounds of enemy are flying at them? Do they wait for their teammates to block, allowing for openings to the endzone? Do they run straight at their opponents, believing brute strength and determination will destroy anything? Do they strategize a trick play with their teammates, out-flanking and out-manuevering by out-smarting their pursuers? Figuring out our goals is tough, figuring out how to acheive them is even tougher. We might get scared of distraction, violence and downright ugliness, endlessly streaming between us and our goals. We can wait for our friends to do the hard work, so our path is nothing but smooth sailing. We can pile everything on our shoulders, believing if we don’t do everything ourselves, it won’t get done. We can work with like-minded people, (i.e. most humans) and help each other out so we as a species survive. Once we discover the pure joy which emits from consciously hyposthesizing how to walk our personal path, we’ll see true enlightenment is collective. Enemies will attempt to block us on a daily basis, we find success when we decipher the difference between enemy and helper. Asking for help when we need it doesn’t make us weak, it makes us willing to succeed. Our oppenents’ drive for control only works, when we relinquish the steering wheel.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If bad publicity is better than no publicity, is it because what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger? Does overcoming adversity further our evolution, infinitely more than never being challenged? Does there come a time when we crave negative attention, believing we’re unworthy of any other? Are we cynical of positive attention, because we’ve been lied to, misled and put down so often, we believe it’s the only thing that’s real? Many microcosms exist within good and bad qualities, which shift depending on our perceptions, mood and life experience. Bad publicity can be good for an artist, because those who aren’t fans will tell more people to check things out, than people who are fans. Bad publicity can be bad, if we believe all good publicity is fake. Many examples exist, social media, television, books, where influence and potential for good and bad exist, but get steered by our views and opinions. The road to hell is only paved with good intentions, if we’re devoid of meaningful action. Bad publicity can be good if we’re unseating tyrants who feel threatened, but not if we allow negativity to destroy the best parts of our soul. How we guage our reactions, depends on what we feel we deserve.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “Is the art of complaining designed for redress of grievances, or self-aggrandizement? Does the intent of complaints depend on the complainer, and their spiritual and emotional well being? Do we complain after a situation is over, when nothing can be done to allieviate the issue we spelled out? Do we complain while an issue is happening, so the problem can be fixed? Do we want problems fixed, or do we want to make ourselves sound more important by pointing out others’ faults? Avoiding an argument over semantics, complaining and standing up could be considered the same, depending on the angle it’s viewed. Maybe the difference is action, where complaining involves literating problems so others act, while standing up involves taking action ourselves. Motivating others to take action is never a bad thing, as long as the suggested action will actually fix the underlying problem. Tearing others down just to build ourselves up might make us President, but will destroy our humanity. Complaints that lead to action when we are unable is called standing up, complaints purposely delivered to late for action, is ego building. To fix problems we must fix them now, not later.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “Does the sharpness of an ice skate, equal the ease with which we skate? Does it matter if the ice has been resurfaced, where all cracks and crevices are filled in, so we don’t stumble as we skate by? Does a high or low air temperature, ease our skating experience? Are hockey or figure skates easier? Does the person wearing the skates, detremine the trail blazed? The thin ice layed our before us, has infinite variables determining it’s thickness and sustainability. We could sharpen our skates, we could learn skating from a professional, hell we could even study weather patterns to decipher ideal skating time. However, unless we test the ice, we’ll never know exactly what it’s like to move forward. Yeah the surface under our feet may be slick, rutted even watery, all obstacles meant to quantify our passion and determination; but we can always skate forward, we just have to rememeber how, by remembering why. The thin ice of a new day is intimidating, but becomes easier with freshly, self-sharpened skates. Obstacles only impede our evolution with our permission.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If we must take two steps back just to take one forward, is it progress? If we have to make several things worse just to make one better, is it progress? Do we feel a mediocre response, is better than a bad response? In our sincere eforts to not make the perfect the enemy of the good, are we inadvertantly making future progress tougher? Compromise is not a dirty word, it simply involves giving up something to get something. However, when trying to acheive rights for fellow human beings, how does giving up some rights, while taking away others spell progress? Once we realize that a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million people, isn’t worth breaking up families and taking hope away from others, we’ll see that misrepresentation of problems, create false narratives of “do it my way” compromise. Erasing progress made just to incorporate new progress isn’t compromise, it’s tyranny. Despotic governments end, when the people taking one step forward, are actually one step forward.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If at first we don’t succeed, what motivates us to try, try again? Do our dreams help keep us focused, so we know what’s truly important? Do we believe in a better day so strongly, that we view overcoming adversity simply as marathon training? Do we respond when somebody cuts us down, just to prove them wrong, or to prove ourselves wrong? Does doing the right thing, involve doing what some would consider the wrong thing? Having hopes, goals, dreams and aspirations keeps us sane, in a otherwise insane world. Working toward success at these passions is hard work, which includes people evangelizing that we can’t succeed. Sometimes we fall, stumble and scrape our knee, sometimes we even fail. We must never get so discouraged that we obsess over what others tell us we can’t do, we should be grateful for everything we can do; which consists of deleting outside negativity, and especially the inside variety. We try, tray again because we believe we will succeed. If we don’t believe success is possible, what’s the purpose of trying at all?” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If inherant hypocrisy drives us through the looking glass, is it that same hypocisy which drives our return? Does the human condition of perception creation, foster non black and white critical thought? Does group think always enter into adaption, or is it edited out for fear of creativity loss? Does the looking glass only provide false hope, because we believe our journey through it, will provide infinite answers without any additional critical thought required? Life can be so chaotic, that the only idea that doesn’t make our brain explode, is things aren’t alway as they seem. Falsities are so prevalent, that we must ask questions to keep our minds from spinning out of control. Some of us may choose ignorance, thinking it will be more comfortable. Some will ask questions, but only till a self-imposed arbitrary point, where asking questions is seen as no longer needed. Asking questions is a constant and life long process, which may provide temporary discomfort, but will drive our positive and collective evolution forward. Going through the looking glass won’t automatically solve all our problems, it is only the first step.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “When we want something so bad we can taste it, is the ferocity of our desire, equal to the time we’re alloted? Does not having enough time increase this ferocity? Does having less time make us spend it more wisely, because we have no wiggle room? Finding our passion is amazing, working that passion is more so. Creating an environment where that passion works for us, where we spend the time required because it’s how we make our living, is more amazing still, but also more difficult. There is a reason the phrase struggling artist is a cliche, it’s hard to make a living. What makes it hard, is knowing how much time and effort is required to make that living at our passion, but are unable to dedicate that time because we work 40 hours a week. How do we make time, when we don’t have time? How can we get help when we either can’t afford it, or don’t know anybody? How do we become successful when we do get help, but instead of alleviating stress by creating free time for us, it creates more stress by creating more possible actions? I don’t know the answer, or I probably wouldn’t have written this piece today. All i know is working my passion makes me joyful, which motivates me to keep moving forward. If we build it, will they come? Will they show up before it’s fully built, because we know it’s exactly what the construction process needs? I sure as hell hope so.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If the true sign of wealth is valuing time over money, is the true sign of ignorance valuing money over time? If we view time as money, do we peg both as having equal value? Are true signs subjective, or do some black and white truths exist when we dig deep into our humanity? Having plenty of time, can give us the time to conjure money making ideas. Having plenty of money, can give us the time to do whatever we want, while true intentions hold the answers to why we do things. If we give ourselves time to find our “why”, our “what” will be obvious. Since we create our own realities, our perceptions of signs and symbols will be different. As long as we put our faith in something that builds us up, nothing can tear us down. Time and money are only real, because we believe they are. The only true sign of wealth, is what makes our soul sing on a continous and sustainable basis. We discover what makes our soul sing, when we realize we’re the conductor.” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If the clearest snapshot of societal health is the writing on the wall, what about hard to read grafitti? Can writing provide a clear message, even if it’s not legible? Is a messages’ strength, directly correlated to how easily somebody understands it, and can convey it to others? Uplifiting messages that tug at our forgotten humanity, is what we’re all looking for. If these messages are hard to read, or only appeal to a small segment of the population, then they defeat the purpose they were designed to serve. Before we judge a messages strength we must ask ourselves, does this messaage encompass what makes us human, from the multitude of different paths we travel? If the message isn’t clear, it’s our job to make it clear. If it does cover humanity’s bredth, then it’s our duty to spread it far and wide. Writing on the wall may not always be clear, but with critical thought in our brains and love in our hearts, we can make it clear. Unity is not acheived by fighting over scraps, but by loving what we possess, and uplifiting others. Messages will enlighten us, if we put in work to find definitions. Gratitude and humanity will save us, we just have to remember why.” 🙂
