From the mind of critic-10/11/16

From the mind of critic: “If somebody running for political office has uttered outrageous, sexist, racist and dictatorial phrases, why do we get surprised they say them, when they’ve been saying them for years? Did we honestly think it would stop when they got to a national stage? Do we continously get shocked at the increasingly outrageous comments, because we didn’t think it couldn’t get any worse? Or do we see the outcropping of what has been simmering for years, and just see it as a natural evolution of events, because this candidate is certainly no accident? Maybe we’ve gotten desensitized over the years by generations of if it bleeds it leads mentality. Maybe it’s a natural outcropping of regular people not taking care of each other, but tearing each other down by creating 3 classes of people in our society, the spewers, the people who get shocked, and the people who tune out. We are all at different levels in our journey, which could explain our reactions, or if we have open or closed minds and mouths. Once we realize that how we treat each other not only reflects what kind of person we are, but also the kind of person people want us to be, we’ll see that politicians, business leaders and people trying to reach their level, only say crazy things to the public, because they hear the public saying crazy things to each other. Not only do we have to be the change we wanna see, but we must act on it like no other time in history” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If the great feeling we have on Friday when our work week is over, is the exact opposite of the bad feeling we have when we start our work week on Monday, do we ever wonder why? Is it because we have so little spare time, or time to ourselves that we become miserable when the last bit of it drips away? Or do we become unhappy on Monday, because we failed to spend our time in the most uplifting way to our soul in the little time we had, dashing the hopes we may have had on Friday afternoon? Whether we have a case of the Mondays, or are just nervous about a new week starting, it is imperative that we spend more “us” time feeding our passions, our souls and our tool kit for handling and reacting to all of life’s issues that can randomly come up. These moments will become normnal as we work them into our routine, they are the foundation for not only a better life, but a better world. The more of us that spend this time and don’t kill it, not only will our Mondays be less miserable, but so will our lives in general. Life is short as all of us could attest to, the best thing we can do for the collective evolution of the planet, and us humans that reside on it, is never waste or kill time, but enjoy time, and spend it making our soul shine. If we do, we’ll never have a case of the Mondays again, because everyday will seem like Friday with all the opportunities that abound” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If the government is drowning in a pool of debt, is it because many of us are drowning in a pool of debt? If many of us are drowning, is it because wealth is being concentrated in fewer and fewer hands, making it so the governmnet can only function if it pulls on more debt, because it takes in much less revenue? Or is it because we’re trying to make an honest living honestly, while trying to pursue our dreams and passions in what little spare time we have, which makes sour debt worse because we’re trying to make our soul shine, while so many others in our society aren’t? Whether it’s education loan debt, credit card debt or any other debt we’ve incurred just to get by, none of it is sustainable . We need to pull in more money to pay off our debt, but when we aren’t able to pull in any more money in a way that isn’t dishonest or illegal, our debt gets worse, just like the governments. However in the governments case, the reason it is in so much debt, is because many people are escaping their debt by either tax havens, lopholes or other immoral means. Our country has plenty of money, just fewer and fewer people have it. So how do we change our trajectory? Once we realize that honesty, passion and kindness are the only true measure of success, we’ll see that to change society, we must change ourselves. And to do that, we must believe that one perswon can change the world, by starting the tidal wave that will get everybody else to change. To end our indentured servitude, we must all be willing to accept the reason it happened, even if the answer isn’t something we weanna hear. To honestly change the world, we must honestly change ourselves” 🙂

From the mind of critic: “If things seem like they haven’t worked out in a long time or ever, despite all the effort, wanting and positive thought put in, is there a way to stop self-sabotage from taking over our critical thinking skills, and stop making us think things will never work out? Will we decide that negativity always feels bad, but since we’ve come to expect it to happen and rarely get let down, in some small way it actually makes us feel comfortable? Or will we realize that negativity always moves us backwards, and although positivity is hard work, especially if we’re not used to it, it does move us forward, which will help things eventually work out? Sometimes when we want something so badly, it oozes out of our pores, scaring off potential people that will help us get what we want. Whether it be success in our chosen career, or finding love, how do we stop looking for something that we really want? If what we want shows up when we stop looking for it, how on earth do we stop looking for somehting we truly want? Is it just something some people say that have already found some form of what we’re looking for? If I really want a love that will make my soul sing, a love that will make me feel high just being arund her, and somebody tells me I can only find it if I stop looking, how exactly does that work? Has that person who gave that advice even thought about how that would play out in real life? I might be lonely and looking for that special love like a lot of us might be. Will we ever find it, who knows? All I know is if things haven’t worked out to this point, if we ever want things to work out in the future, we must leave ourselves open to the possibility that they will” 🙂

From The Mind Of Critic-10/5/16

From the mind of critic: “If we usually say “when it rains it pours” when something goes bad and gets progressively worse, do we also say “when it rains it pours” when something goes good and gets progressively better? Are we so used to expecting the worst so we don’t get let down, that it feels weird to even allow ourselves to take pride when things are getting progressively better? Or has life in general gotten so fake and phony because of its distance from nature, that we can’t even tell the difference when something is authentically going good or authentically bad, so we just assume it’s bad because that’s what we’ve always done? There is alot of darkness in life that can overshadow the light. It can be easy for us to fall into the comfortable rut of expecting the worst, so atleast we know what’s coming. This can make us so cynical and skeptical that whenever we see a small glimpse of light, we figure it’s a wolf in sheeps clothing. What we must remember is life is full of schedules, routines and ho-hum everyday activity. so the more we normalize bad events, the more ingrained they will get as just something that happens. But, if we start normalizing all the good and enlightening events, the more those will get ingrained in us. We are creatures of habit, so we will assume that what’s happening will continue to happen, so we can move onto more important matters. Wont we get much further along in life if we say it rains it pours when something good happens, instead of just grabbing a raincoat?” 🙂

From The Mind Of Critic-10/4/16

From the mind of critic: “If it’s the darkest right before the dawn, is it the lightest right before the dark? Is there even a difference between saying it gets really bad before it gets really good, and saying it gets really good before it gets really bad? Or is it just something we tell ourselves because we’ve become experts at self-sabotage, thinking nothing good can happen unless something more terrible happens right after? We’ve all had times in our life when it seem like nothing can work out, when we get let down time after time after time, sometimes because of our own doing, and sometimes not. This can make it extremely hard to think not only positive about all the things to come, but also gratitude for eveyrthing we have. However, whether we have to fake it till we make it, or simply put in extra effort to make ourselves think that way, it will seem strange at first because it’s something out of the ordinary that seems forced. But the more we do it, the more we will get used to it as just something we normally do. Whether its dark before the dawn or dawn before the dark, light will only appear if we allow it to” 🙂

From The Mind Of Critic-10/1/16

From the mind of critic: “If doing what we’ve always done gets us what we’ve always got, does doing something different guarantee we’ll get different results? If we change our routine even by the slightest measure, will the outcome be different by virtue of different variables going into the equation? Or is it all basically chaos, and the best we can hope for is a higher percentage chance at success if we change things up? Doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results, is the defintion of insanity. Which might help explain why things have gotten so insane with our world and our government. However, some our greatest inventors, social movements, activists, thinkers and heroes were only successful because they never gave up. Sure, people told them they are crazy for doing something over and over again, expecting it to eventually work out after having failed so many times. They would never have succeeded though if they heeded the advice. They felt in their hearts, minds and the deepest part of their souls they were doing the right thing, and eventually their dreams would turn into reality, because the energy driving them was bigger than themselves. Quantifying that energy, whether somebody actually has it, or is just on drugs or dense, is impossible. The best we can do, is what our heart and soul tells us, and then don’t stop doing it. We might not ever have guaranteed success, but we will have guaranteed fulfillment” 🙂

From The Mind Of Critic-9/30/16

From the mind of critic: “If we hated waking up early for school, but never had a problem sitting in front of the T.V. at 6am on saturday mornings to watch cartoons, did it breed in us an attitude that we only do what we want, and never what we need? Do we wake up everyday and only do what we want because it’s instant gratification, that makes us happy right now, instead of doing what we need to do, so we survive in the long run? Or do we understand the balance we must live with needs and wants, so that we are joyful and fulfilled to the point where we could wake up at anytime, on any day and smile because we know we’re walking the right path? My mom has told me for years, that we have to do what we need to do, specifically so we can do what we want to do. That we must lay the groundwork, a strong foundation to build our life from. Once we have this strong start, not only will we feel like we earned the good things in life, but we will feel confident about doing what we want, because we’re put the work in. However, if we only pay attention to our needs and never our wants, we will live joyless, lonely lives. Always striving to get a little further ahead of our neighbor, who we find ourselves getting increasingly jealous of. We can find balance, we can succeed, we can acheive our dreams. We just have to afford ourselves the oppurtunity” 🙂

From The Mind Of Critic-9/29/16

From the mind of critic: “If closed minds many times come with open mouths, do closed minds ever come with closed mouths? Do open minds ever come with open mouths? Or does the mere concept of an open mind require a closed mouth, because the only real way to be open to everything is not spewing commentary? There are infinite variables in infinite equations, that help explain an infinite amount of situations. What we can count on however, is nothing is black and white. Whether somebody has a closed or open mind, offers no indication of whether it comes with a closed or open mouth. Yes it’s true, people with open minds should speak more, and people with closed minds should speak less, but loving our neighbor and taking care of each other and ourselves, ensures that we never close our mind to the problems of the world, and always have open minds to all the good in the world. Which once it’s acknowledged, will help alleviate those problems that usually start with closed minds anyway. We all must talk and ask questions, but also listen and comprehend. The more we get used to talking to each other like human beings, the more of our closed minds will naturally open” 🙂

From The Mind Of Critic-9/28/16

From the mind of critic: “If seeking truth requires us to acknowledge hypocricy, does it also require us to ask questions, live authentically, and love like our lives and our world depend on it? Does it require us to let go of all our pre and mis conceptions? Does it require us to drop all labels? Should we clear all roadblocks? Should we stop stepping on people to succeed? Should we be obligated to help others in their journey, as so many have helped us? The term seeking truth is extremely subjective, being that there are infinite ways we could seek or not seek it, as well as everybody’s truth being different. What is the same however, is no matter what method we use to to find whatever form our truth comes in, we all must be open and willing to accept the truth, even if its somthing we weren’t expecting or don’t wanna hear. Part of being open, is letting our light shine. And part of letting our light shine, is pointing out when things aren’t right, standing up for what we belive in, and being the example we wanna see. Seeking truth starts with us being truthful to ourselves, specifically so we can be truthful to and about others. We must let truth do what it was designed to do, unite us” 🙂
