from the mind of critic-3/2/19

From the mind of critic:       “When so much positive change is needed to aid the world’s suffering, are the biggest changes made from within the system or from outside? From new or career officials who still retain a soul, and actually point out and then fight against things that are wrong, or from rabble rousers with blown horns and signs, who disrupt and destroy normal business operations with their volume, their long-haul stick-to-itiveness and sheer numbers? From officials who got out of the game who report on how, where and why schemes happen because they used to take part, or from angry and energetic youth who have seen their parents, grandparents and friends persecuted and ethnically cleansed, and whose soul’s fire won’t allow rest until justice and peace are achieved? Do we become officials, or do we beat back officials? Judging by the width, height, volume, circumference and sheer breadth of our deeply ingrained issues, a multi-pronged attack is exactly what’s needed. Everybody’s talents doing everything they can, will shift our collective evolution back in the right direction, but it’s going to take all of us at all levels, at all positions, and at all stations to hurl a death blow to this mutated monster of our own creation. This why we need outside agitators, working with inside instigators and everything in between to squash, and greatly reduce the size of our worst angels, we’ve allowed to govern over us, because our low self-esteem forced us to blame others for our deficiencies. How is this accomplished, we simply unite around what makes us human, to fight against those making money hand over fist on us being inhuman to each other. They can’t beat us, unless we let them. We stop getting outflanked, when we go straight at them from all sides. If we’re divided, we will fall because they’re united. We’re all obligated to fight the power, because we’re the ones with the real power.” ?

from the mind of critic-3/1/19

From the mind of critic:        “If comprehending our own reality has become such a chore, we wish we could hire a translator, is it the language disseminated that’s indecipherable, or have our brains learned to turn off when things don’t go to plan? When curves ball come at us, do we step back so we’re nowhere near the ball, or do we step into it because not only are we unafraid of changes and unexpected occurrences, but we revel in their rejuvenating qualities? Do we wish the world would stay the same, so we always know what to expect, or do we hope things would happen to break us out of the boring rut we’ve burrowed ourselves into? Walking out the front door is not only challenging sometimes, it can be downright terrifying. Everything has changed from the day before, destroying every last vestige of things we used to know. Of course, once we reignite our dormant critical thinking, we’ll see some things have changed, some have stayed the same, while other’s status is fuzzier. To clear away this fuzziness, we must ask ourselves, has something changed, or has just the way we view it changed? Making this determination can open our eyes to the importance of perception. People, objects and places can completely change not because their physical form morphs and mutates, but because the way we view them has. Which means an internal curveball has been thrown, probably by our soul to wake up our mind, so our body doesn’t do something stupid. Reality might suck, but its authenticity makes the tapestry rich. Mirrors can show us ourselves, if we open our eyes. Our time is better spent not trying to figure out how the curveball was thrown, but why. Life is hard, but being a real human being to and amongst other human beings, really isn’t.” ?

from the mind of critic-2/28/19

From the mind of critic:          “If we’re used to asking why this happened to us whenever something bad occurs, no matter how disastrous or trivial, do we ever ask why this happened, for us? Are we stuck in a never-ending cycle of hopelessness and victimhood, because we always ask why something happened to us, instead of what lessons it may teach no matter how powerful or uncomfortable? Maybe these lessons become exponentially harder as the years go by, because our attitudes become so chiseled in stone, we aren’t willing to change. Maybe difficulty arises because we’ve ignored lessons so long, that their power has grown and grown, until one day we couldn’t hold them back anymore, and have to listen. Maybe what personal and introspective lessons demand, is something we’ve never done, or haven’t in so long, we’ve forgotten how. Maybe we’re scared of leaving the comfortable home we’ve made for the last 15 years. Maybe it’s not fear, ignorance or asking the wrong questions. Maybe we’ve never asked why something happened for us, because we believed we didn’t deserve the positivity exuded. Maybe we’re unable to see, because we’ve blinded ourselves for so long. Maybe we aren’t afraid of failure, but of success because we feel unworthy. That’s an easy fix, but hard at the same time. We just have to look at that other person in the mirror, and tell them we are good enough, and do deserve to live out our dreams. No matter what tests or bullshit is thrown in our direction, we will succeed if we believe in ourselves. Feeling our self-worth, makes us realize how valuable we really are. Any questions asked are good, but repeated ad nauseum will make us sick. Lessons keep showing up, until we learn them. Success wont show, until we’re willing to learn.” ?

From the mind of critic:     “If lies are repeated for so long the people believe them, and truths are ignored for so long people refuse to believe them, what is the natural outcome? I’ll give you a hint, it’s racist, orange, sexist, and an unapologetic grifter and criminal who believes they’re untouchable. They’re also grossly fat, and ballooning by the day. Still can’t figure it out, he’s had a few failed casinos, pissed off Russian mobsters and oligarchs, loves fascism and dictators, as well as tanning beds you can visit; but only if you drink 12 diet cokes a day, and eat nothing but KFC and big macs.” ?

from the mind of critic-2/26/19

From the mind of critic:     “If we’re so looking forward to a certain date, that we keep track of it on a calendar, and when the hoped-for outcome of success doesn’t come, we wonder if we were kidding ourselves that it would turn up roses? Did we ignore the possible bad outcomes, in favor of the good outcomes we wanted? Did we look at the good side, the bad side and even the side where nothing happens, and forget that definitions we place on the sides, completely change when looked at in a different way? Were we expecting one thing or another, and when one of those things happen, we actually feel worse because we pictured the slippery slope of what’s going to happen down the line, instead of what’s happening in front of our face? Will it lead us down the dark path we expect, or a better one we knew was possible, but only once we started walking forward? Life has millions of possibilities and even more solutions. Once they start playing out, each none forks off in another million unique ways. This causes a chaos swirl of confusion, that’ll stop us in our tracks. Our mind spins out of control, unable to cling to a positive thought. Sometimes amidst this chaos, we do see light and know it should make us happy, but the dark swirl of chaos overpowers it. This is when we have to slow down, breathe, and try to feel grateful for what we have, hang out with a friend, family member, or anybody else who can make us laugh. Maybe we listen to some good music, or hang out in a spot which brings us joy. The spinning might not stop right away, but will slow when we realize what we thought wasn’t the problem, it was how we thought it. To change outcomes, we must change mindsets. Spinning stops, when we’re grateful for opportunities. Expecting outcomes, closes us off to others. A dark swirl of chaotic confusion tastes like shit, a light mound of humanism, gratitude and accountability doesn’t. We’re only human, we must truly, love ourselves to survive.” ?

from the mind of critic-2/25/19

From the mind of critic:    “If we’re scared to find out what has the potential to be great, terrible and/or everything in between, do we ignore the discovery so we can pretend that whatever happens, didn’t? Does ignoring the knowledge gain make us feel better, because if we don’t hear bad news, it can’t possibly hurt us? Does ignoring make us feel worse through self-sabotage, where being our own worst enemy, turns into spelling out why we don’t deserve any good news that may have come, but that we ignored? Do we take this fear that’s bubbling, and admit it’s there by fully defining and explaining why while moving forward anyway, because we know it’s always better to know something, even if it’s not what we want to hear? Can we move truthfully forward, because we know life will eventually improve, even if we’re only learning how to make the best of things, instead of creating a fictional narrative that’s likely to blow up in our face? Going to the doctor, talking with a lover or potential lover, getting called into the boss’s office or receiving a court summons can be scary, debilitating and like we simply want to cocoon. This is a normal reaction, but what we do after this reaction is vital. Do we ignore, or do we trudge forward? Sometimes it’s a little bit of both, depending on the person and the situation. Granted, ignorance is based on ignoring reality, so the less we pretend and the more we live, the better coping skills we gain so we don’t get caught off guard next time. Once we realize that none of us like bad news, but wont be able to deal if we don’t know what it is, we’ll see if we open our eyes, ears, minds, hearts and souls to authenticity, we’ll be able to not only surprise ourselves with what we can accomplish, but that bad news we were expecting, might actually be good news, which we never would have gotten if we hadn’t walked in the door. Band-aids hurt when they’re hastily ripped off, but not as much as if they’re left on to fuse with our skin. Fear is normal, ignorant fear isn’t. We won’t be able to travel our path forward, if ruts scare us enough to not try getting past them. The difference in our perceptions, will affect outcomes. Authentic strength to overcome, is born of gratitude.” ?

from the mind of critic-2/24/19

From the mind of critic:    “If we’re stuck in the middle of a ping pong match, where each side tries their darndest to prevent us from wanting to join either side, how do we stop the match, so we rejoin the same team? Do we slap the ball off the table, making it fly as far as possible? Do we grab the ball midair and put it in our pocket, so either side can’t just grab it again, and resume the match from where it left off? Do we walk up to both sides and take their paddles away, so they could still hit the ball with their hands, but it wouldn’t go back and forth as quickly, or with near the same velocity? Do we simply flip the table like we’re little kids, therefore stooping to a level the ping pong participants might understand? Do we give up trying to end the match and just leave, pulling ourselves out of its vacuum suck zone, even though the match might still be going? Hearing people go back and forth about shit that doesn’t really matter, makes it seem like they’re arguing just to argue. At some point in the beginning, the syllables exiting their mouth holes might have made sense, they might even have been something we could get behind. At some point, out of either self-interest in hearing themselves talk, thinking their opinions are better than others, or a disbelief somebody could actually have a different opinion, they started repeating themselves incessantly, raising their volume, anger and disdain for the other side. This causes egos to rise and chests to puff, so each time one side says something, the other has to match, or be labeled a loser. Once we realize the idea of ping pong matches can be useful so people get their ideas out, but can quickly devolve due to a human predilection of always wanting to be right, we’ll see the more we talk without speaking, and the more we hear without listening, the less human we become; the alleviation of which starts simply with us not being a jerk. Being stuck in the middle is tough, until we walk our own path. Debating is healthy, being childish from not getting our way, isn’t. We feel gratitude for the real lessons in life, when we realize we’re all on the same team. Flipping the table, never works as well as turning the table.” ?

From the mind of critic:      “If political systems are based on human systems, and human systems are based on perceptions, what can we do so the life experiences and face to face interactions which shape those perceptions have the most positive, loving, conscious, sustainable, and peaceable effects, as they work their way up the food chain to not just build, but live that better future we all know is possible, when we let ignorant fog float away in favor of humanity? It’s really simple, don’t be an asshole.” ?

from the mind of critic-2/17/19

From the mind of critic:        “If all bailouts are bad because they give a person or entity charity without them having to work for it, then why do we think our group deserves it more than any another? If all welfare is bad because it gives somebody something they feel they’re entitled to, then why do we think one group deserves it more? Do we feel the deserving nature of this gift, varies because the person receiving it is a more productive member of society? Do bank account balances determine who is more deserving? Are we? Some of us believe that if poor people were made to work, they wouldn’t need handouts in the first place. Beyond the argument of forced labor, yes, if some people were voluntarily working, they might not need help. However, a quick look at statistics shows most people on public assistance, W.I.C. and food stamps are working. So, if these people are working and contributing, but still need help, we must look at the economic conditions that put them in that predicament. This brings us to big corporations and moneyed interests which are attempting to constantly grow, but sometime greed and inhumanity makes them go too far, which brings them to asking for public assistance. Once we see railing against the poor for taking advantage of the system, without recognizing the giant companies and uber rich who put them there , can only make us think the poor are taking advantage and the reason for our woes, we’ll see that having a system that helps people isn’t bad, and will always have bad actors; but failing to see multi billion dollar tax loopholes and risky investments, causes us to think deception is all one sided. If we want to stop fraud, we must stop it on all levels. If we think the poor take more advantage than the rich, I have some ocean front property in Arizona I’d love to sell you. Getting to the root of a problem, is what ends it. The problem isn’t the rich or poor, it’s us.”  ?
