from the mind of critic-12/20/17

From the mind of critic: “If we view everything that happens as that’s just the way the cookie crumbles, did we forget we took part in baking them? Do we realize all the ingredients that can make them not crumble? Did we know the difference between oatmeal and oatbran can change the crumble ratio? Does the temperature we bake our cookies at and the amount of time we leave them in the oven, affect how they crumble and in which direction? Is there a difference between raw cookies we can’t eat, and overbaked or burnt cookies we can’t eat? Winds blow, times change and cookies crumble. We can either flow with changes, or fight against them. What we must not do is lay blame, when we could be taking action. Sometimes life happens beyond our control, but sometimes we’ve tricked ourselves into thinking we have no control, when really we caused events to happen in the first place. The way we tell the difference, is by being conscious of the moment presently in front of us. Then, we can see what set the groundwork for that moment, so we can give ourselves better odds of success. The concept of “we can’t control everything that happens, but we can control our reactions to them,” is based on being accountable to ourselves, because it’s the only way we can be accountable to others. Cookies will always crumble no matter what we do, but they always taste better when we admit we helped bake them.” 🙂
