from the mind of critic-11/11/17

From the mind of critic: “If the calm before the storm is a quiet moment before things get really bad, then how will we ever be comfortable with peace, if we’re always expecting impending doom? If we’re not comfortable with chaos, but are familiar with it, do we question the validity of human gestures? If we always expect the worst, are we even prepared for something good to come along? Being scared is normal, and so is worrying about being let down. What isn’t normal, is believing the act of being let down will always happen, because the power to acheive joy and success is out of our control, so by washing our hands of any personal effort, we’re giving ourselves extreemly short and fleeting bits of happiness, because we think we know what’s coming. Once we realize that what we expect is usually what happens in form or another, we’ll see that if we always expect the worst, the worst will always show up, specifically because we didn’t make one speck of room for something good. Having a calm before the storm doesn’t always mean a storm is around the corner, it could mean a new and brighter day is upon us, if we allow ourselves to view the light.” 🙂
