from the mind of critic-6/7/17

From the mind of critic: “If we make a better door than a window, do we we make a better window than a door? Does our inexperience at window making, overshadow our experience at door making, which causes us to cocoon ourselves in a windowless and doorless room? Is this an actual physical room, or a room inside our minds? Are we great at making windows and doors for other people, but when it comes to our own hopes and dreams, we can’t nail 2 boards together? Opportunities, lessons and new beginnings present themselves all the same time, whether we’re paying attention or not. They can be detrimental or uplifting depending on our outlook and self-esteem. A window to look out might be constructed before a door to walk through. Sometimes the window to look out can be used as a crutch, so we never have to walk through the door. The door itself might also be nailed shut, tricking us into believing we can stroll through. Then again, this all might be a pipe dream. Doors, windows, locked cabinets and blocked hallways can be metaphors with a million variables, and a million more explanations and outcomes depending on determination and life experience. Like job experience is gained on the job, life experience is gained through living life. The less time we spend concentrating on words, and more on concepts, we’ll see our life dramatically improve. Words aren’t everything, but without them, how would we learn anything? Windows and doors can be passages or road blocks, it’s our choice.” 🙂
