From the mind of critic: “If we’re supposed to make lemonade out of life when it gives us lemons, how do we know how much sugar to add? Do we dump some in, until we say, oooh boy that’s sweet? Do we dump some in little by little, tasting and testing every reaction along the way? Do we just drink it with no sugar, pretending its sweet, good and oh so tasty, when really it tastes like liquid sour balls? Do we say fuck lemonade, and grab some iced tea or a coke? Making the best of a bad situation, is one of the key survival skills we have. Without it, we might curl up in a ball and totally give up. However, always defaulting to make the best of a bad situation, always assuming it is what it is, prevents us from ever making things better. I’m not saying we should never accept things as they are, all I’m saying is we need to take them on a case by case basis, or we might miss the opportunity we’ve been looking for. Once we realize we can take lemons and make lemonade, but can also take lemons and throw them in the garbage, compost pile or even hit them with a bat, we’ll see relying on default settings in our thinking, might help us survive and might not, a quandary we can avoid by being open, and seeing what’s really out there; which could be completely different than originally thought. Lemonade is good, but could be poison if not tested. Overthinking, causes the anxiety of indecision. Being too sweet is like being too sour, something just ain’t right. Breathing in the full beauty and breadth of life, allows us the knowledge of what tears us down, and what builds us up.”
