From the mind of critic: “If the truth shall set us free, is that truth for all of us? Will freedom not spring from truth, if we committed a crime? What if we committed some unspeakable act that was an accident, but don’t come clean, because our life would end as we know it? What if a grieving mother unites a community to find the perpetrator, will we give our freedom up so a family and community can have closure, and we can be held accountable? Do we come forward, if racially ingrained issues that have plagued our species for millennia, are thought to be the culprit? Does a certain individual perfectly fit the pre judged description, by reinforcing our biases; when really it was us over here, where we don’t fit the description, or the ingrained white supremacist cultural system, but are just a normal person who could be a friend of the victim, and could’ve been standing by the grieving mother the whole time? Will we forever jump to conclusions, or will we investigate first? All of us deserve justice, some of us even deserve to be brought to justice. There’s a huge problem when any kid has their future stolen, snatched before they have a chance to bloom. What makes matters worse, is when blame is placed too quickly. I want justice for Josiah just like anybody, but blaming Kyle Zoellner without physical evidence or witnesses, so it can fit into a pre packaged idea of racial violence, lets the real killer get off scot free. You know who you are, and you’ve been watching this whole shit show, and laughing that the ongoing investigation isn’t pointing anywhere in your direction. Do you sadistically enjoy tearing apart a family, not to mention an entire community, because you saw somebody fighting your friend, pulled a knife to stab them, but stabbed your friend instead, all because you were high on coke? This makes actual racial violence take a back seat. The actual racial violence, that is actually happening right now, will now have attention stolen, because you don’t want to take responsibility. Truth, actual truth, the black and white stuff which makes us human, will only set us free, when we not only look in the mirror, but realize we might not like what we see staring back.” 😊
