from the mind of critic: 1/5/19

From the mind of critic: “If wind gusts pick up and slow down without warning, are we prepared? Are all of our belongings going to blow around the yard, because of their physical importance? Will our sense of being and self be blown around and thrashed, but not destroyed, causing us to question everything we’ve ever done and thought, which causes our mind to spin faster than the wind? Do we give up, because it’s just easier to let the wind take us wherever it’s going to take us? Do we stand up, because although it’s harder to stand against the wind, it’s more spiritually fulfilling to know we tried? Do we stand up not against the wind, but against losing ourselves and our character? Do we know we can’t stop the wind, but can hold on to who we are, wherever the wind takes us? The world is an ever evolving and surprising whirlwind of chaos, beauty, lessons and reinvention. The wind will always blow, but it’s up to us to truly prepare by knowing ourselves. That way when the wind does blow, we know we might end up somewhere different, but we’ll be able to reinvent, adapt and adjust without losing who we are. Some people obliviously float whichever way the wind takes them, remaining ignorant, and falling further under control of outside sinister actors. Some of us are willing to blow around, not because we’re giving up, but because we want to survive and keep our psyche intact. The wind isn’t scary, as long as we know and love ourselves. We can walk across shifting sands, when we realize we’re not lost, just not where we thought we’d be. Looking in the mirror is the first step in realization, looking through the mirror is the second. To out stand the darkness, we simply must let out light shine. Standing up might include falling down, but it’s the getting up that matters.”
