From the mind of critic: “When did we become a country that applauds and touts people simply for not being racists, bigots or homophobes? When did we start praising those who treat others with respect, when it’s something they should have been doing all along anyway? When did we come to the realization that the world is so messed up, that we get elated at the slightest bit of light, truth and consciousness? We have alot of issues in our society, there is no denying that. But if we’ve gotten so comfortable with the evil and the darkness when it makes every attempt to take away our descency toward each other, and we do nothing because we believe it is what it is, is it any wonder we get all excited when one of us does something human, when it’s what all of us should be doing on a daily basis ? Maybe we can get past the stage of celebrating mediocrity, by not putting somebody on a pedestal for doing something they should normally be doing. Maybe we can start treating each other not like stepping stones or commodities, but like part of the same human family. The more we celebrate somebody for not being a jerk or for finnaly admitting they were a jerk, the less we will progress forward. And we wanna progress forward, right?” 🙂
