From the mind of critic: “If comprehending our own reality has become such a chore, we wish we could hire a translator, is it the language disseminated that’s indecipherable, or have our brains learned to turn off when things don’t go to plan? When curves ball come at us, do we step back so we’re nowhere near the ball, or do we step into it because not only are we unafraid of changes and unexpected occurrences, but we revel in their rejuvenating qualities? Do we wish the world would stay the same, so we always know what to expect, or do we hope things would happen to break us out of the boring rut we’ve burrowed ourselves into? Walking out the front door is not only challenging sometimes, it can be downright terrifying. Everything has changed from the day before, destroying every last vestige of things we used to know. Of course, once we reignite our dormant critical thinking, we’ll see some things have changed, some have stayed the same, while other’s status is fuzzier. To clear away this fuzziness, we must ask ourselves, has something changed, or has just the way we view it changed? Making this determination can open our eyes to the importance of perception. People, objects and places can completely change not because their physical form morphs and mutates, but because the way we view them has. Which means an internal curveball has been thrown, probably by our soul to wake up our mind, so our body doesn’t do something stupid. Reality might suck, but its authenticity makes the tapestry rich. Mirrors can show us ourselves, if we open our eyes. Our time is better spent not trying to figure out how the curveball was thrown, but why. Life is hard, but being a real human being to and amongst other human beings, really isn’t.” ?
