From the mind of critic: “If all bailouts are bad because they give a person or entity charity without them having to work for it, then why do we think our group deserves it more than any another? If all welfare is bad because it gives somebody something they feel they’re entitled to, then why do we think one group deserves it more? Do we feel the deserving nature of this gift, varies because the person receiving it is a more productive member of society? Do bank account balances determine who is more deserving? Are we? Some of us believe that if poor people were made to work, they wouldn’t need handouts in the first place. Beyond the argument of forced labor, yes, if some people were voluntarily working, they might not need help. However, a quick look at statistics shows most people on public assistance, W.I.C. and food stamps are working. So, if these people are working and contributing, but still need help, we must look at the economic conditions that put them in that predicament. This brings us to big corporations and moneyed interests which are attempting to constantly grow, but sometime greed and inhumanity makes them go too far, which brings them to asking for public assistance. Once we see railing against the poor for taking advantage of the system, without recognizing the giant companies and uber rich who put them there , can only make us think the poor are taking advantage and the reason for our woes, we’ll see that having a system that helps people isn’t bad, and will always have bad actors; but failing to see multi billion dollar tax loopholes and risky investments, causes us to think deception is all one sided. If we want to stop fraud, we must stop it on all levels. If we think the poor take more advantage than the rich, I have some ocean front property in Arizona I’d love to sell you. Getting to the root of a problem, is what ends it. The problem isn’t the rich or poor, it’s us.” ?
