From the Mind of Critic:
“If death is simply the finality of life, therefore part and parcel of the process itself, where does the fear of it come from? Does it appear when we realize we won’t see another sunset, won’t laugh again with friends, and will lose our love and support system? Does it appear when we look at our bucket list, and spot so many places and events we didn’t experience, or even remembered to list it in the first place? Does it appear when we realize everything is coming to an end, like the dark at the end of a light tunnel? Do we not fear death not because we’re unafraid of the end, but because we live everyday like it’s our last, and fill it with as much soul filling activity as possible, that way if it did end, we’d have zero regrets? Death can be a scary thing, the fact that our loved ones can leave us anytime and vice versa, can bring a dark cloud which encapsulates our forward motion. This heaviness can weigh us down, influencing our every thought and action, until we’ve fully ceded control. The keyword being can, because it doesn’t have to. Death is simply a part of life, part of the positive negative balance. We must have an end specifically to have a beginning, and vice versa. So, how do we delete this fear? I don’t know we ever fully can. However, we can lessen its power and influence on our daily lives, by relegating it to crazy street preacher status. We enact this lessening process by living each day, I mean really living. Not necessarily extreme sports, although that could certainly work for some. I mean from the moment we wake up, we need to breathe in the beauty of the universe, and feel nothing but gratitude. We must see how people matter to us because they’re human, and so are we. We must take in this good energy, and not hold onto it, but expel it back out; not just through kind and charitable works, but through listening to the soul of others. Listen, the fear of death greatly increases along with our increase of regret, which greatly decreases the more human we are to each other. Death is scary, but so is life lived unconsciously. Regret is overcome, by listening to our heart. Our earthly time is limited, living life purposefully, makes time move slower. If we view death as simply a new beginning, we won’t see it as a scary end.”

From the mind of critic:
“If we realize we can’t know where we’re going, until we know where we’ve been, how do we figure out where we are? Do we devise an equation, involving as many variables as possible? Do we sit back, overwhelmed by the sheer fact that understanding where we’ve been, and internalizing it so it gives us a clue where we’re going is hard enough introspective work, without then having to take that answer that’ll never be black and white, and hammering out exactly where we stand? Do we feel these internal questions are only asked by the well off, people who have enough time to ponder, because they aren’t being held neck deep in survival mode by generations of an ever-widening wealth gap? Do we ask where we’ve been, are and where we’re going, but don’t get hung up on the answers, because after much life experience, we know those answers are constantly changing, evolving and mutating, so trying to decipher “the answer” is a fool’s errand? Trying to figure out the world is hard enough, without knowing ourselves. Asking ourselves those deep and sometimes dark questions, can be the most uncomfortable thing we’ve ever endured. Sometimes this leads to figuring out the world, because working on issues outside of ourselves, allows us to be passionate, without being held prisoner in our own minds. These chains become tighter, rustier and heavier the longer we go without dealing with what’s holding us back. Once we realize that learning, knowing then experiencing who we are might change over time, but being conscious of it along the way, gives us the best chance of figuring out our past and our future, we’ll see that we may never receive the answers we’re looking for, but utilizing effort and conscious thought will provide a path forward. Understanding history, helps us not ignore the future. Ignoring our present, makes our past and future irrelevant. Grounding ourselves, allows us to strategically survive our own mind. Answers might not ever be clear, but become less foggy when we realize it really is all about the journey.”

From the mind of critic:
“Is the current administration, as well as the general state of the world brought us a society to the beginning of the end, or simply the end of the beginning? Has setup, foundations and game plans once thought fringe or crazy not only taken hold, but have found a comfortable and strong place from which to grow, evolve and mutate its most sinister aspects? Have we reached a point where the fringe and crazy have fully crept out of the woodworks, and started to institute their worst aspects, but has also fueled the resistance with motivation that the power structure can finally be struck down, because the inevitably of positively conscious change has struck fear into those who fight against it, even though history shows they will lose? Opinions always have and always will vary widely no matter the region, or political party. Whether the world is going to hell because it’s getting too dark, gay and feminine, wishing it would return to a more homogenous and less accepting time, or whether it’s finally representing the people who live in it, and is evolving like it always has to leave out humans and roadblocks that refuse, deny and fight change, is up in the air. Not because everyone has it figured out, but because everybody has a different opinion. What we all can agree on, is this is a time of major change and upheaval, that will change the face and course of this country for generations. Once we realize that if we’re against the rights of people, period, full stop, we’re going to lose, we’ll see that unless we want to be among the biggest group of historical losers who fetishize other losers yearning a return to a loser time, we won’t try to stop other human beings from trying to make a better life for them and their families, because we wouldn’t want others to do the same to us. Perspective can change with the wind, positive consciousness helps it blow in the right direction. Fighting inevitable change is like fighting a brick wall, it’s not going anywhere and you’ll just break your hand. The fringe becomes moderate, when the moderate becomes the fringe. Change is inevitable, humanity is not. Power structures fall, when people stand up.”

From the mind of critic:
“If the winds of change are blowing, do we run out first thing and grab a windbreaker? Do we erect huge walls and impediments, so when the wind blows, we can block it? Do we believe if we don’t block the wind, that it’ll gust right through us, completely destroying everything we’ve built as our character? Is the wind so strong it’ll knock us down and we won’t be able to get up again, or does the wind not change who we are deep down, but instead makes us better by forcing us to evolve? Adapt or perish, evolve or devolve, create or destroy, not only are there multiple definitions of change, but there are also infinite ways of interpreting its effects. Now that’s not to say there aren’t a few general reactions, there are, but with infinite variations. There are people who embrace change, fight change, and those who ignore change and pretend it’s not happening. We aren’t always all one way or another, in fact most of the time we’re an amalgamation. So, if we’re an amalgamation of all different things and change comes along, like it always has and always will, how do we know it won’t elevate our consciousness? Fighting change is like fighting a brick wall, we use all our strength, but it ain’t moving. Embracing change is like noticing a brick wall, and finding the best ways to work within it’s confines. Ignoring change is pretending the wall doesn’t exist, before we run into it head first. Change doesn’t have to be scary, specifically because we have nothing to fear but fear itself.”

From the mind of critic:
“If great things are somewhere over the rainbow, the sun will come out tomorrow, and tomorrow is a new day, does that prevent us from taking action today? Do we think that just because great things are coming, that we can just sit idly by? Does mindfully doing things in the here and now, take energy away from future plans? There is nothing wrong with planning and working toward a better future. In-fact if we want to extend the collective life of our species, we’ll come up with a plan that helps the most people and biggest area. However, if all we think about is the future while ignoring present day situations, personal relationships, and knowledge because we think we know everything, not only will we miss our future building opportunity, but we’ll completely miss out on what makes life tolerable, living. Once we realize planning on heaven for the future, completely disassociates with the idea of making heaven in the here and now, we’ll see that procrastination not only paints an ignorant view of the future, but deletes our opportunity to make our hopes and dreams come true, on a planet we all deserve and that’s still around, not tomorrow when it might not be. Rainbows disappear if looked at from a different angle, so do false prophets and pie in the sky thinking. Taking day to day action, prevents procrastination overload. Plans help if the don’t negate action, but propagates them. Of course, the sun will come out tomorrow, but living here now, shows us it’s shining today as well.”

From the mind of critic:
“If the Democrats say they’ll come to the negotiating table once the government is open, and Republicans say they’ll open government once negotiations are through, who is going to blink first? If the Palestinians say they’ll come to the negotiating table when the Israeli’s stop building settlements, and the Israeli’s say they’ll stop building settlements when negotiations are through, who is going to blink first? If the east going Zax runs into the east going Zax, and each are too stubborn or not kind enough to move out of the other’s way, even if it’s one simple step left or right, who is going to blink first? Is blinking the actual problem, or is it a deep seeded belief inextricably tied to not only self-esteem and self-worth, but future success as well? Now I know we all have our opinions on both sides, but I think the question needs to be asked, when are standoffs used to prime the pump of negotiations, and when are they used as a hostage taking? When does it become not about the subject matter, but about building ourselves up, while tearing others down? When is the core of the conversation about security, really not about security but fear of the other invading, and stealing our way of life? How do we act in good faith with somebody, who has always only acted in bad faith through lies, subversion and manipulation? How do we come together, when not only do all signs point in the opposite direction, but get more entrenched by the day? How do we love others like ourselves, if we don’t love ourselves to begin with? I think we just answered our own question, with an answer that will evolve alongside us, as long as we see each other in ourselves, and never look away.”

From The mind of critic: “If racism has its roots in financial insecurity and fear of the other, can it be alleviated with financial security and conscious confidence? If we stop blaming black and brown people for taking jobs we don’t want, because we have enough to securely support ourselves and our family, will we stop being racist? If we give up on the idea that we’re the white Christina nation we were never meant to be, because the interwoven nature of our community proves its strength through love and support of every member, will we stop being racist? If racism and classism were seen as the symbiotic destructive factors they are, because one couldn’t live without the other, would we hate each other if we stopped trying to best each other, specifically due to a lack of competitive downward mobility, and an influx of supportive and conscious, collective upward mobility. Hating others because they’re different, has been around as long as long as controlling others through wealth accumulation has been a concept. Trying to boil down such a complex problem can serve to reverse much struggled for progress. However, figuring out the root issues of race and class, can cause us to see not only where they were birthed, but the easy yet hard solutions that exist within any generationally ingrained problem. Once we realize that making things harder to solve, because we believe the solution couldn’t be easy, only chisels the problem in deeper, we’ll see that although we should never default to the easy way out, we should default to the hard way either, if we actually want to live that better future, instead of endlessly talking about it. Racial hatred, is symbiotic with self-hatred. Ignorance loves company, but so does love and understanding. Race and class are symbiotic, like peace and justice. We start listening to our better angels, when we realize they’ve always been with us.”

From the mind of critic: “If hate isn’t born but learned, do the lessons of hate begin with the absence of love? Do we seethe with prejudicial ignorance, because love is nowhere to be found? Does our hate grow as our tank fills with darkness, because darkness is the opposite of light? Does the newest generation have the will and want, to overcome the dregs of darkness still teaching them, or do they see through the obvious and transparent hypocrisy, that believing our way is better than theirs? Should they not only be droned about it, but verbally and physically accosted for even thinking another way was the right one? The young ones can save us, or they can drive progress back until it’s almost out of reach. Same with the old, same with the rest of us. We have the opportunity to get past all the shit of our history, and live out the creed that is as of yet still unrealized. The rawness of how our issues are being currently displayed and described, is giving us a chance like we’ve never had before. Will we use it to build, heal and love, or destroy harm and hate? The future of our species as well as our planet, depends on our capacity for helping ourselves, specifically so we can help others, not in spite of them. Hate destroys, love builds. Light will only illuminate, if we allow it to. Hate of others dissipates, when we stop hating ourselves. Old hate will always accept new recruits, but becomes much less significant and influential, when their crazy street preacher status is illuminated.”

From the mind of critic: “If we as a people will get to the mountaintop, do we as individuals stay in the canyons? Are we afraid of the treacherous journey to the top, involving people we don’t know who we must unite and work with if we hope to get past falling rocks, snow storms and wild animals? Are we not afraid but negative toward our potential for success, because it’s so imposing, intimidating and impossible? Does our hesitancy to climb the mountain have less to do with fear, but truth that we’ve witnessed the mountain grow while we sat there and watched, knowing we fueled it’s upward trajectory, and the longer we sit idle, the taller it becomes? The harder they come, the harder they fall is true, but action must be undertaken. To climb we must learn, prepare and track our course with the least number of pitfalls. We’ll never be able to avoid them all, but the more conscious we are of them, the better chance we have to overcome. Once we realize these lessons only teach unification and conscious evolution to critical mass and not individuals, because upward mobility only happens when we have each other’s backs, we’ll see we can only get to “a mountain top” as a cohesive unit, but not “the mountain top” because that doesn’t exist. We can lift each other up or suppress each other, those are our only choices. Canyons can be beautiful, but the view can be constrictive. Our journeys are treacherous, but our interactions don’t have to be. Guilt and regret may slow us, but love and understanding always primes the pump.”
